The first guests arrive...

Against the odds, normal service has been resumed...just in time for the first of our summer guests who arrive imminently. There are times in high season here when I feel I'm running a small hotel, and it doesn't always go smoothly, but in the build-up to opening this time I have reached Sybil Fawlty status, with a touch of Basil himself thrown in, wild of hair and eye.

Now all that remains is to drift out, under the scented pines, past the sparkling swimming pool to greet the first visitors of the season with a beatific smile on my face. Make it look effortless, that's the key.

You're a better man than I, if you can pull THAT off! *wink* Good fortune be yours. May all your guests enjoy themselves, but not so much that they overstay their welcome.

P.S. Come visit my place - I got a facelift!

Hope your guests have a wonderful summer with you Deborah. We have just booked a week's holiday near Minerve after finding a lovely village house on the Chez Nous website. Cannot wait, but in the meantime, guess what ... its lovely and warm and sunny here in Suffolk. Hopefully the beginning of our summer. YAY!

Hope you have a wonderful time with your guests. I used to love "Fawlty Towers." Hmmm, maybe I should watch some of those old episodes. They are bound to be around somewhere...

Dear Madame, I just wanna say "thank you", for your book "The Lantern", which I´m reading right now in these days, and I really like it!(Last week I was in France, Nice, and maybe that´s why - the impression of south of France is still fresh. And your book is helping me to keep it.)I ´m from Czech republic and your book was published here just few weeks ago (the name they used here is "The Lantern in the darkness"). Thanks to this book I found your blog and I´m admiring your french life...Provence and south of France is my soul-landscape. Thank you once more!
