No, not here in real life (I wish!): only in my imagination at my desk, in one of the settings of the new novel. But I'm looking up to say hello with a little teaser...does anyone recognise where in the world this is?
For those of you who like to know how books progress, I'm now 36,000 words into the first draft, about which I am feeling quite proud, as it's currently school half-term - two whole weeks for us! - and it's been a busy time. We're mid-way through, and we've had friends to stay, an evening at the theatre in London, cinema and shopping trips and lunches with friends, as well as a few commitments for me with The Lantern.
I'm setting myself a very realistic target of 50,000 words by the start of the Christmas holidays, which will give me lots of wiggle room to re-write and improve as I go along. I'll let you know in a while if you're right about the location I'm revisiting and trying to bring alive on the page and screen...

36,000 is very impressive! I don't recognise the location, but it looks like a beautiful setting for a novel.

Just going to thrown something out from My imagination...Corsica? Or someplace that starts with an S....can't pull it up.

Well done, it's clearly going well. And how sensible to set an achievable target by Christmas. I was going to try the NaNoWriMo challenge in November but decided that 50,000 words in a month is just not the way I want to write.
Haven't a clue where the photo is. It doesn't look like Corsica, but I'll probably be proved wrong!

It could be Mackinac Island during the sailboat races except for the mountainous background. Maybe Greece or South of France?? Beginning a new novel is so exciting. I love the exhiliration of being lost in my characters, never knowing what they're going to do next.
Wherever it is, we'd love to be there. I'm guessing the Mediterranean somewhere.

Wow - not a very literary comment! Many words in a short space of time. Hope you make your terget ... and then you can look back through and discover your book.
It reminds me of the islands around Hong Kong but those aren't Chinese junks.
You're really cracking along with the book,I find that the more I write the slower I go, the inner critic which seems to get sronger and stronger as you grow older keeps on insisting that I correct this or that.

Could that location be Cornwall, along the Helford River? Maybe not. It looks fairly busy - somewhere along the Cote d'azur perhaps....

Well done Deborah! The writing grass doesn't grow under your feet, you must be quite disciplined. Good for you! We should all take a lesson from you, make goals and stick with them. You're doing something right!

The photo reminds me of Les Calanques, but I guess it could be somewhere even further south as someone already mentioned. Sardinia?
