Much life concealed

Shutters closed. An upstairs window open in shadow. No sign of life. I have an awful feeling this is what a writer's life looks like to the world outside. Certainly mine does while I'm working steadily on a new book. (And my shop window, this blog, is looking a little neglected and tired in the display area, with slow turnover of goods.)

It can't be helped, I'm afraid. There are times when writers have to write and for me the most enjoyably productive way to do it is by retreating into my study and losing myself in the work for weeks on end. Hours vanish into days as the story takes shape and the search becomes all-engrossing for the right words to tell it, to build a compelling characters and atmosphere. Behind the closed front, there is much life concealed.

You know, I've always wanted to be a writer, I envy you the feeling, enjoy it.
I haven't still renounce to it completely, but for the time being my little blog is my sort of compromise. I wish I could find the sort of will like yours.

The delight is in working on the story when the characters come to life and the situations start being played out. I hope you enjoy your time.

Best of luck with your WIP, Deborah. I know I, for one, will definitely read it when it is released.

Those of us who are writers well know the truth you speak. Wishing you many productive hours on your new work.

Yup,the hardest part is shutting EVERYTHING else out. No doubt.

I know just what you mean. I'm tuning up for NoNoWriMo this year, otherwise I will never get my novel written, but it's terribly scary. And I need to discard so many other things in my life to get it done...

Thank you for this peek through the shutters.

I envy you your persistance. I too am gearing up for nanowrimo as I have started and abandoned so many attempts to write a novel. Maybe this time I'll get past the first chapter. The thing that stops me every time is which direction to take when I come to a crossroads in the plot. Every single novelist has my utmost respect, you included.

Well, I am sure that it will all worth it in the end. I also wanted to share with you an old French proverb
'Un talent sans travail n'est rien qu'une sale manie...'

That photo...it makes me want to disappear for a while and just immerse myself in notebooks. :)
